I know... So Cliché

Subtle Changes. A turning point summer... my 22 year old showed significant signs of "growing up"... he's leaving to go back to school, his senior year - we'll miss him at home. We've been through this before, and it's always hard for me at first, I'm not GREAT on transition... I know when the back door shuts in a few days it will be quiet, no more sandy feet walking into the house, no more wet towels on his bed, no more empty juice cartons in the fridge and a lot less laundry... how did these college years go so quickly... I know... So Cliché

My heart is right where yours is now. My two oldest *really* moved out for good, having stepped up from college housing to real *grownup* apartments, jobs etc.

For me, it is thrilling and devastating at the same time.

The oldest told me I should convert his room into my office (current office is cozy and the bedroom is huge) so I can have more room. I asked him where he would sleep when he came home, and he told me that wouldn't be happening as much. He was sweet and kind when he said it, knowing my mommy heart was breaking...but sadly it is true.

(though I am not switching rooms....there will always be a bed in there for him...just in case ;)
